Ronnie Woo Woo

I've been following the Ronnie Woo Woo story, and some things aren't making sense to me. Perhaps someone can fill in the details or gaps in my memory.

For instance, one article states that he has a stepson, another says he isn't married, another says his wife reported him missing last month.
Can all these statements be true?

Cubs Get Their Fan

CHICAGO, May 28 (AP)- Ronnie (Woo-Woo!) Wickers said tonight that he is just like his beloved Chicago Cubs: alive and well.

After 17 years of not missing a Cubs home game, Wickers- a 45 year-old street person who held only odd jobs-hadn’t been seen through 21 games this season.

With or without Woo
By Jim Walsh
RedEye
Published July 14, 2005

It was straight out of "Without a Trace."

Cubs' superfan Ronnie "Woo-Woo" Wickers had been reported missing--by his wife, cops said--and the news spurred dozens of Chicagoans to call police, radio stations, RedEye and the Chicago Tribune to say they'd seen him.

At a concert.

At ballgames.

At the Jewel.

But Wednesday found "Woo-Woo" safe, sound--and single, according to him.

"That's amazing," Wickers told RedEye on Wednesday afternoon after all the hubbub about his disappearance reached him.

Wickers--the voice behind the infamous "Cubs, woo!" chant heard outside Wrigley Field--said he had "no idea" who reported him missing as of June 29 and said he is not married.

American Beauty
By Jeff Carroll

Some look at Ronnie ‘Woo Woo' Wickers and see a Wrigley Field sideshow. But local film-maker Paul Hoffman sees a remarkable triumph of the human spirit.

As comfortable in front of rolling cameras as their father grew to be over four years in their presence, Ronnie Wickers' two children attempt to describe their dad's unique celebrity.

"He's really famous," explains 11-year-old stepson Scott.

Wickers' daughter Yolanda, 9, nods nearby.
