The Forgotten Man in the Steriods Scandal
To the editor in chief of CubsNet.com:
I’m sorry, but I have to state something that apparently no one else has noticed or had to guts to print. With all this talk of steroid use in baseball these days there seems to be one man consistently left off the list of the usual suspects: Greg Maddux.
Which leaves me to ask myself, why? Is it the glasses? The mild demeanor? His general resemblance being that of a middle aged c.p.a.?
Or could it be that the media elite are trying to protect something deeper in their total avoidance of this issue? Something more sinister? It’s difficult to say.
One thing that is for certain is the radical changes in body structure of Mr. Maddux over the years. Simply compare photos of him in his rookie year with those of him now and you’ll see some drastic changes. (I’ll let you note these for yourself.)
Also, I didn’t want to mention this here, but there seems to be another Cub who, obviously being influenced by Maddux’s lead, has taken a liking to physically enhancing drugs early on in his career.
I need only to point out some telling power numbers to make myself clear:
Fantasy Comparison:
Player – Points
Carlos Beltran – 2366
Vladimir Guerrero – 2272
Barry Bonds – 2082
David Kelton – -1
You be the judge.
Kelton’s on the juice.
Respectfully,

widening the circle just a bit...
Greg debuted with the Cubs the same year as another man, another veteran who has lasted many years.
Yes, that's right: Jamie Moyer.
In fact, Jamie probably took juice to Texas a couple years before Jose Canseco did.
And I have no doubt in my mind that those two learned it from a man who was a veteran then, Frank Dipino. Just look at his drastic swings in batting average:
1986: .200
1987: .500
1988: .100
1989: .077
1990: .250
1992: 1.00
re: widening the circle
Frank Dipino! I forgot about that guy. Just like him to fly under the radar of all this. But no doubt ground zero for the entrance of steriods into baseball.
