Just when you thought you had seen it all...
The Cubs go off and lose a game like they have lost no other. I swear with this team, its always something different every game. They invent new ways to lose. Once again an enemic offense and some very questionable fundamental baseball has cost the cubs yet another game.
I would have to guess that is a minimum of 10 games they have just up and given away this year. That would translate into a 64-43 record, instead of the reality one of 54-53 where it stands now. I don't see this team being capable of any kind of playoff run, as they are going to do nothing more than give us a roller coaster final 2 months. You see, they are more than talented enough to be a top 5 team in all of MLB, therefore they may stay just close enough in the race to keep us watching. I mean they do play Houston 10 more times yet and the final 4 at Houston. However, they are also such an enigma, that they play just awful/dumb enough baseball, to lose to any team on any given day. The lack of "smarts" and baseball fundamentals is going to keep this team home in October and its really been a problem since 2003. Coincidence? Maybe, but Dusty isn't the entire problem, as much as I'd like to blame him for them all. I don't think he teaches or preaches the little things in the game well enough to be a manager that gets the full potential from his team, but some of this onus has to also befall on the players. I was taught the rite and wrong way to do things in Little League, and when i moved on to Play adult tournament softball, i no longer needed somebody to remind me of the little things, the fundamentals i had been taught at a very early age. I never got paid, yet i always thought the game, while i was in the game. I think to many MLB players are there for talent, but if they needed to use their brains, uh oh! I mean c'mon, think the game while your in the game and always know the situation. My god you are getting paid for it! Well this game has really brought me to a loss for words on what to expect from these guys on a game to game basis. I will probably stay tuned in as most of us Die-hards will, but i believe a lot of the problem is they don't play with any sense of urgency or heart and are the most lacking team fundamentally I've seen in a very long time on a MLB field.
