Another sad display at Shea
Hey, my title rhymed! Maybe im in the wrong business. In fact, maybe, just maybe i should be managing the Cubs. Im sure i could lead a roster full of talent to an under .500 record.
Tonights game was another sad display of MLB by the Cubs. It all started with an error by Ramirez allowing Beltran to reach safely with 2 outs in the first. That was followed by a single from C Floyd, scoring Beltran. Yep, that's rite. Beltran scored from first on a single. Granted he was running on the 3-2 pitch, however Macias (Why? Why? Why?) lolly gagged over to get the ball, then turned and fired missing the cut off man and throwing the ball wild and wide of the plate. This also allowed Floyd to move up on the throw, thus allowing him to score on a single to left. What should have been zero runs, but at worst 1 run, turned into 2! Rite then and there i knew this game was over.
For the fourth game out of five, the Cubs came out and burried themselved almost immediatley from lazy, un-enthusiastic play. Wether it be mental mistakes by the position players or the pitchers simply having nothing, we are getting burried immediatley. The players seem to be playing with no sense of urgency and certainly do not appear to have their heads in the game.
I almost put out an Amber Alert on the Offense, but decided against it. ;) 1 Run! The Cubs managed to score a grand total of 5 runs in the series and 4 of them came in the opening game! Down rite rotten! A change of some sort has to be made here. Wether it's cleaning house with manager and coaches, or sittin/sending some guys down and letting others play. Hell, cut a few guys that aren't pulling their weight and show the rest that you will for once start holding them accountable. Albeit, a little late now Dusty!
Well i don't know that i can bear to watch much more of this crap they call MLB from the Cubs. And while i have read some comments of ppl thinking it has become a laughing matter, i don't find anything funny in it. I actually find it rather disgraceful that a team with so much talent can play with so little care or concentration and continue to make the same mental errors over and over. Dave Campbell says Dusty shouldn't be blamed. Well who else do you blame for consistent mental mistakes normally reserved for the LLWS?
We Cubs fans deserve a better effort and focus out of our team than this. We give all our heart into rooting for this team, and should expect the same in return. And if you don't give all your heart to this team, why are you reading this? Lets hope Hendry really weeds some guys out and re-tools this team for a run next year and beyond.
