"Double-A West Tenn center fielder Felix Pie is slated to return from his ankle injury Tuesday," reports the Chicago Tribune. Paul Sullivan of the Trib also states that Pie is "certain to be brought up Sept. 1, when rosters expand."

Sullivan doesn't cite a source for that information. You have to wonder if the Cubs would really call up Pie when West Tenn will be in the Southern League playoffs. The double-A playoffs have to be better experience for Pie than sitting on Dusty Baker's bench.

Pie is hitting .304/.349/.554 on the year in 59 games. He has been out since mid-June with a sprained ankle and a bone bruise.
