Former Cub Jose Cardenal in the news

Jose Cardenal was my first favorite Cub player. Here is a bit of news about Jose, who wore jersey number 1 back in the 70's for the Cubs.

Jose Cardenal, the senior advisor to the general manager, wants to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina, and is looking to auction his 1998 World Series ring. Cardenal was the Yankees' first-base coach, when the Bronx Bombers won the 1998 World Series over the Padres.

Jose Cardenal, Steve Swisher vs Cards. Cubs win 19-4

Today in Busch Stadium history:

Steve Swisher hit a grand slam and drove in five runs, and Jose Cardenal added a three-run shot and drove in four runs as the Chicago Cubs set the Busch Stadium record for runs by an opponent in a 19-4 win. Claude Osteen started and took the loss, while Barry Lersch and Sonny Siebert each gave up six runs in relief.
