Aluminum Bats, Sports Photography tv shows HBO

Here are a couple HBO sports programs that may interest you...

Aluminum Bats (Revisited)

Quote from website...

In summer 2002, REAL SPORTS examined the dangers of aluminum baseball bats. The report explored a frightening incident that occurred in May 2001, when Wellesley (Mass.) High pitcher Bill Hughto was struck in the temple by a line drive off an aluminum bat, with devastating results: His skull was broken and an artery severed, forcing doctors to perform emergency surgery that required a set of screws to hold the shattered bones together. A sophomore at the time of the accident, Hughto underwent a long, arduous recovery and returned to the mound the following season. Coaches and parents, citing the danger from the "pop" of a ball powered by an aluminum barrel, lobbied the league to switch to conventional wooden bats. The league complied, as did other leagues in Massachusetts, but the large majority of high school leagues around the country, as well as the NCAA, have resisted the change. REAL SPORTS' Armen Keteyian updates the story with fresh interviews.

PICTURE PERFECT: THE STORIES BEHIND THE GREATEST PHOTOS IN SPORTS

Rated TVG:
Running Time: 57 minutes
Genre: Sports, Documentary

Quote from website...

Explore the enduring and remarkable influence of still photos on sports history in this compelling documentary. Focusing on some of the unforgettable images from landmark sports events, the film presents the stories surrounding the photos as well as various interpretations of their significance. Among the classic moments--all culled from a time known as "the Golden Age" of photography--are Babe Ruth's last Yankee Stadium appearance with never-before-seen color shots, Ben Hogan's picture-perfect swing at the 1950 U.S. Open, Cassius Clay standing defiantly over Sonny Liston in 1965 and the great shot of bloodied Giants quarterback Y.A. Tittle. Interviews include Frank Gifford, Bob Beamon, Y.A. Tittle, Chuck Bednarik and Mary Decker; journalists Dan Jenkins, Daniel Okrent, Robert Creamer and Beano Cook; and photographers Walter Ioos, Neil Leifer and Gordon Parks. Narrated by Liev Schreiber.
