Cubs Unlikely to Non-Tender Anyone

Tuesday is the big arbitration offer deadline. The Chicago Tribune's Paul Sullivan reports that "General manager Jim Hendry is not expected to non-tender any of his arbitration-eligible players." That means Corey Patterson will return, or be used as trade bait. The other players eligible for arbitration are Juan Pierre, Jerry Hairston, Jr., Will Ohman, Carlos Zambrano, and Mark Prior. Yes, Mark Prior. I'm sure others knew this, but I did not. Prior has a provision in his current contract -- entering its fifth and final year -- that allows him to forego that fifth year and file for arbitration, which he is expected to do. That puts him in for a nice raise over last year's $3.55 million.
