2006 Cubs outfield - # home runs hit in 2005 was...
Usually a team's sluggers are found in the outfield, first and third base. Since the Cubs outfield seems to be undergoing radical changes, let's see how many home runs the outfielders on the Cubs 40 man roster hit in 2005...
Jerry Hairston (one of my fav Cubs) hit 4 home runs in 2005.

Jacque Jones hit 23 last year.

Matt Murton who played a partial season for the big league team last year, hit 7 home runs and might be on my favorite players list for 2006. We'll see. I usually have 4 on my favorite players list.

Corey Patterson
13 home runs for Patterson last year. I have high hopes for Patterson in 2006 if the fans in the park support him properly. (HINT: Don't boo your own players.)

Juan Pierre
A whopping 2 home runs...but an amazing 57 stolen bases last year.

Felix Pie - no stats listed at Cubs.com

I'm coming up with a total of 49 home runs for the entire outfield.
I hear that Sosa is still available... We know that the Cubs did far better with him in the clubhouse than without him.
I'd like to see Sammy hit his 600th MLB home run for the Cubs.

The Cubs won 14-3. Now that's playing the game right!

Diane -- good to see you posting regularly again, after a couple of weeks break.
Don't boo your own players
I agree. Though I will allow an exception for other fans to do it where the player does not try. Corey Patterson tries. He just has a faulty approach at the plate.
First at bat on Tivo'd game: Juan Pierre
Thanks for the welcome back. I went internet free for almost three weeks in Florida last month. I went to a memorial service for my uncle and as long as I was in Florida while Illinois was experiencing "record low lows" stayed there for awhile. Had access to a laptop but it was with a dial-up connection that wouldn't stay connected at all.
Funny story from today though. I wanted some baseball sounds in the house so I put on that Cubs 14, Marlins 3 game that I keep going on about. I played a bit of it sometime ago on the Tivo, so it was already started when I turned in on today. Would you believe that the first batter I saw was now newbie Cub Juan Pierre? How ironic!
Here is what the Yahoo game recap says about Juan Pierre that day...
The way Zambrano was pitching, the lead appeared safe. He retired nine of the first 10 batters and did not allow a hit until Conine's infield single with one out in the fourth. He did not allow a runner past first until Juan Pierre's double with one out in the sixth.
Conine then singled off Zambrano's chest, and with two out, Delgado sent a 1-0 pitch out to left for his 26th homer and a 3-3 tie.
It was Zambrano's only mistake.

I'm trying to figure out if I have any pics of Juan Pierre from that game. What number jersey did he wear as a Marlins? Is this him?

Booing
Not a boo-er myself, but I rarely feel like booing players anyway. Generally, I get far more frustrated with coaches than players.
