DeJesus will make the move from Class A Salem of the Carolina League to manage Greeneville.

DeJesus begins his sixth year as a manager in Houston’s minor league system. He brought the Avalanche within one game of the playoffs in 2005 and was named the Carolina League’s Manager of the Year at season’s end.

DeJesus enjoyed a long major league career as a shortstop, primarily with the Chicago Cubs and Philadelphia Phillies. He was signed by the Los Angeles Dodgers as a high school player out of Puerto Rico in 1969, then was traded to the Cubs in 1977. He left the Cubs in a trade to the Phillies for Ryne Sandberg and Larry Bowa in 1982. His major league playing career ended in 1988.
