Andy Masur Takes Job With Padres

The Cubs radio booth is a man down. "Masur, who spent the last eight years on Cubs broadcasts, including
five seasons doing one-half inning of play-by-play during Pat Hughes' breaks, agreed to a two-year deal with an option for 2009 to serve as play-by-play and color man on Padres' radio broadcasts," reports the Chicago Tribune. "Masur will join veteran Padres announcers Jerry Coleman and Ted Leitner in the booth and do up to three innings of play-by-play and six innings of color, plus pregame interviews."

Brenly Would Manage Again, in Right Situation

The Chicago Tribune's Melissa Isaacson profiles Bob Brenly, and the possibility that he could be a big league manager again soon, perhaps for the Chicago Cubs:

"If the right situation came along, absolutely I'd like to get back on the field. But I don't have to go out searching for that job or be standing by my phone 24 hours a day waiting for the call. I'm perfectly content to do what I do for the rest of my life."
