The Curse: Buckner and the Cub Connection
Submitted by FearlessBear on Thu, 2006-10-19 12:47.Lest I be seen as beating a dead Goat, the curse lives on. The horrible truth of the direct connection between Bill Buckner's famous 1986 gaffe for the Red Sox of letting the ground ball go through his legs and the CUBBIES, is revealed. In that fated game it turns out he was wearing an official Cubs batting glove (logo and all) under his fielding glove. A full color picture is in the Chicago Sun-Times today. Unfortunately, the Weblink does not show the picture. See: http://www.suntimes.com/sports/quickhits...

1994 All-Star Game - future, current and past Cubs?
Submitted by diana on Thu, 2006-03-02 12:26.As I zipped thru the 1994 All-Star Game that airs on ESPN Classics, I noticed an interesting at bat.
Lee Smith pitching to Fred McGriff, who hits a home run over the head of Kenny Lofton.
That All Star team had a bunch of former/future/current Cubs playing in it.
How many players / coaches can you find on this All Star team that ended up with a Cubs connection?

Lefty Cubs pitcher who batted right handed...
Submitted by diana on Tue, 2006-02-21 13:13.Today's trivia question is from the book Runs, Hits and Errors: A Treasury of Cub History and Humor by Jim Langford.
On page 202 he writes about a Cubs pitcher who threw lefthanded yet batted righthanded. I'm paraphrasing his account of the story:
One day after returning to the dugout after striking out, his manager asked him why he didn't bat lefthanded. The pitcher replied that he just never had before.
His next at bat he decided to bat lefthanded.
