Cubs
With Wood's initial failure as a closer and Fukudome's fabulous debut, have your expectations for 2008 changed?

Submitted by Jwiertel on Sun, 2007-10-28 11:03.I heard this story about a rookie ball pitcher who made the jump to triple A in just one season of work. Is this as rare as I believe it to be? I was in Iowa watching the Cubs play Omaha and this hard throwing free agent right hander came into the game. At first I thought nothing of it but later came to find out that the kid was in Mesa for the entire season. No stops on the way, just straight to AAA. He was throwing 94 with a sick circle change. Retired all six hitters he faced and then the season was over. Any thoughts on this type of jump? Where do you think the cubs will send this prospect at the start of next season? The kids name is Mike Christl and he looks like he has a ridiculously high ceiling.

new book on 1908 season
Submitted by cait on Wed, 2007-03-21 21:33.Attention, Cubs fans β new book on the 1908 season is just out. (I know because I wrote it). Itβs called Crazy β08 β How a cast of cranks, rogues, boneheads and magnates created the greatest year in baseball history (HarperCollins, $24.95; foreword by Robert Creamer). The Chicago Tribune reviewed it warmly on March 18, and Sports Illustrated liked it, too (the March Madness cover). Go to crazy08.com for more.

If the Tribune company sells the Cubs, what kind of owner would you like to see?
Submitted by FearlessBear on Sun, 2006-11-12 10:31.Support Don Levin to Buy the Cubs
Submitted by FearlessBear on Sun, 2006-11-12 10:25.First let me say that I am not Don Levin, I never met Don Levin, and I have no business or other connections with Don Levin.
So Who is Don Levin? Levin is a Chicago native Cub Fan with enough money to buy the Cubs himself, enough smarts to get Mike Downey to do an article about him in today's Sunday Tribune sportspage, and enough heart to take on the task of making the Cubbies into the team every true Cub fan wants to see.
Levin founded and owns the Chicago Wolves, a family oriented successful hockey team. He is going to call John McDonough to tell him that what Downey says in today's paper is true. He is not phased by a more than half-billion dollar asking price, and he wants to keep the Cubs at Wrigley and make them winners. Downey's column link.
