Hee Seop Choi
Choi's Last Chance?
Submitted by cubsnet on Mon, 2006-12-11 12:48.The Korea Herald reports:
When Korea's Choi Hee-seop was in the Chicago Cubs' farm system, he was deemed by many scouts as a can't-miss prospect. Those days, however, are long gone. Now 27, the left-handed-hitting first baseman - who has also had stints with the Florida Marlins and the Los Angeles Dodgers - is more like a blunted journeyman.
Choi Designated for Assignment
Submitted by cubsnet on Tue, 2006-08-01 20:52.Hee Seop Choi was the replacement for Mark Grace (with a short interval of Fred McGriff thrown in between). But the Cubs--wisely, it turns out--turned Choi into Derrek Lee. Choi entered his age 27 season this year with a career major league line of .240/.349/.437. Passable, but not what many--including me--expected. This year, unfortunately, has been a disaster for him and the Boston Red Sox have now designated him for assignment, reports ESPN.com. Choi has hit just .207/.347/.361 for Boston's triple-A team in Pawtucket. Let's hope Choi gets another chance somewhere. His minor league career with the Cubs, the first half of 2003 with the Cubs, and the first half of 2004 with the Marlins showed so much promise.
Choi Hits 6 in 3
Submitted by cubsnet on Sun, 2005-06-12 17:59.Apparently the Minnesota Twins didn't get the message that former Cub Hee Seop Choi has a hole in his swing. Choi hit three home runs today, giving him six total in the Dodgers' three-game series with the Twins.
