Soto and Vitters Among BP's Top 100 Prospects
Submitted by cubsnet on Thu, 2008-01-31 20:10.Baseball Prospectus's minor league guru Kevin Goldstein has posted his top 100 prospects in baseball. Just two Cubs show up on the list, one of whom made an impact on the 2007 big league club and the other the Cubs' #1 draft pick in 2007:
37. Geovany Soto
45. Josh Vitters
Goldstein's top two Cubs matches John Sickels'.
(I assume that Felix Pie no longer qualifies as a prospect.)
ZiPS projects Soto to hit a robust .284/.342/.483 in 2008.
More information about the players from BP will be available in Baseball Prospectus 2008.

Two Cubs in Bryan Smith's Top 75 Prospects List
Submitted by cubsnet on Tue, 2007-01-23 23:43.Baseball Analysts' Bryan Smith has posted his top 75 prospects list, and the two Cubs with food product last names (at least if you ignore pronounciation) make an appearance: Felix Pie at #34 and Donald Veal at #47. (Hat tip: The Detroit Tiger Weblog.) Just two players -- and no honorable mentions -- is a bit disappointing. It's a good thing the Cubs have money to burn.
